Never Buy a New Car Replacement Part First!

June 24th, 2014 | By | Posted in Uncategorized

Everyone needs to buy new parts for their vehicle from time to time, whether it’s a bumper, a radio, or an engine. Over the course of your car’s lifetime, these prices can really add up! What’s more, if you bring your car to a dealership, they will give you new OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts, which come with a hefty price tag. On the other hand, you can shop for used parts that are just as reliable, at only a fraction of the cost.

The Benefits of Buying Used

Price is the main reason most people shop for used parts. Even very lightly used parts come at a huge discount, and they can last just as long as a brand-new part. However, there are other reasons to buy used as well. Many people enjoy the greater variety they can find when they shop around for themselves, instead of going straight to the more limited selection from the manufacturer. This is especially popular with radios and other easy-to-customize areas of your car. Used parts also come in handy if you have a very old or very rare car. If the vehicle isn’t currently being made, you’ll have a hard time coming up with new parts.

Do It Yourself!

There are several ways to buy used parts for your car. You can ask your mechanic or shop around online to find parts that can be shipped straight to your house or garage. If you know enough about cars, you can install the parts yourself and save on labor as well. Another way to find used parts is to visit a salvage yard. This takes a little more know-how, but is the best way to make sure you get exactly the part you want at the most affordable price. At U Pull N Save, we keep our lot stocked with a huge variety of makes and models, and we bring in new cars every day. Chances are good that you’ll find just what you’re looking for.

How a Salvage Yard Works

Salvage yards are pretty straightforward, but it’s a good idea to know what to expect so you can prepare for your visit. Most importantly, you’ll need to bring your own tools when you visit our yard. You’re responsible for pulling the parts you need yourself, saving you as much money as possible since you don’t have to pay for any extra labor. We’ll make a note of everything you bring in so you won’t be charged for it when you leave. Once you’re checked in, you can roam around the yard looking for the parts you need. Feel free to browse as long as you want. You may find something you didn’t even know you were looking for! Wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves to avoid injuries around broken glass and metal edges. Although we keep our yard as safe as possible, it’s always best to take precautions. For this reason, we also ask that your children and pets stay out of the yard.
